Channel District Projects

Construction Notice – October 2025

Construction on Phase D2 of the Channel District Improvements Project (E. Whiting Street, from N. 11th Street to Channelside Drive), is scheduled to begin in mid-October 2025 and continue through spring 2026. This project includes drainage, roadway improvements, and pedestrian area upgrades. To accommodate this first phase of work (Phase 1a), the westbound lane of E. Whiting Street will be closed from Channelside Drive to west of N. 12th Street, with detours in place to route travelers around the work zone. The sidewalk on the north side of E. Whiting Street will also be closed within the construction area, with a pedestrian detour in place. Eastbound traffic and driveway access on the north side of E. Whiting Street will be maintained. (See project area map for work location.)

HOW TO PREPARE

To prepare for the upcoming work and contribute to a successful outcome, we ask for your cooperation as follows:

  • Remove existing landscape and/or hardscape items you would like to save from the right-of-way area abutting your property (typically 15 feet back from edge of roadway) prior to the start of work.
  • Avoid installing new landscape and/or hardscape items within the right-of-way area and/or making any driveway modifications until restoration of your area is complete.

Notice of Construction

Starting Monday, February 7, 2022, construction of the N. 11th Street Improvements (Phase E2) will begin relating to the Channel District Improvements Project. The project includes roadway and water infrastructure improvements as well as new landscaping and irrigation. This phase of the project is expected to be complete in mid-summer of 2022.
