Notice of Construction

Starting Monday, February 7, 2022, construction of the N. 11th Street Improvements (Phase E2) will begin relating to the Channel District Improvements Project. The project includes roadway and water infrastructure improvements as well as new landscaping and irrigation. This phase of the project is expected to be complete in mid-summer of 2022.

Construction Related Hurricane Preparedness

Dear Property Owners, Businesses, Residents & Tenants,

In response to the declared state of emergency, the contractor, Kimmins Contracting, is currently in hurricane preparedness mode. The contractor will be removing and securing construction materials in advance of tropical storm/hurricane force winds.   Please continue monitoring the weather and alerts from the City of Tampa and the National Weather Service (www.weather.gov).

Independence Day Notice​

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, the project contractor will not be working on Monday, July 3, 2023, or Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Work will resume on Wednesday, July 5, 3023. The project contact phone number, (813) 774-3246, will be monitored throughout the holiday.

Notice of Construction​

Project construction is scheduled to begin in your area beginning on Monday, February 15, 2021. Construction activi-ties will include utility upgrades, sidewalk and street improvements, landscaping and irrigation, and burying of overhead utilities. During construction, a minimum of one lane of traffic will be open in both directions at all times. Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted to the east side of Channelside Drive. As work continues, the City of Tampa reminds residents and commuters to exercise caution when traveling through construction areas.

Phase I is expected to be complete by the end of April 2021. A schedule for the other phases will be determined as the project progresses.

How to Prepare

To prepare for the upcoming work and help en-sure a successful outcome, we ask for your coop-eration as follows:

  • Remove existing landscape and/or hardscape items you would like to save from the right-of-way areas abutting your property (typically from edge of roadway to 15’ back) prior to the start of work.
  • Avoid installing new landscape and/or hardscape items within the right-of-way areas and from making any driveway modifications until restoration of your area is complete.

Virtual Public Meeting​ Recording

The City of Tampa hosted a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, September 21, 2020 from 6 – 8 p.m., to update residents and business in the Channel District on the Citywide Mobility Plan. Project team members provided a formal presentation on the new parking changes in the Channel District and answered questions from meeting participants.
